Ethan Wingfield III is the grandfather of Vivian Wingfield. She later named her son after him. At one point, he was the head of the Wingfield family.
He was known for drinking excessively, dueling random bar patrons, and having a prolific sex life. Despite doing very little to lead the family, he was rather popular. This is likely because most of his family perceived his drunken stupidity as courage.
